Fairies

"The land of the ever-living, a place where there is neither death, nor sin, nor transgression. We have continual feasts: we practice every benevolent work without contention. We dwell in a large Shee; and hence we are called the people of the Fairy-Mound."

Fairies, or the Fae folk, are widely known through out the world, which have come to be known more as make believe, that reality. But fairies have a large history, and have been worship for many years. These creature's, full of secretive mischief, have a story all their own

Long worship by the Irish, and in place such as France, Germany, and the British Isle's, the fae had taken their ever playing role in the Celtic heart's, and would not long after, make their way into the heart's of all mankind. Originally said to live in the pagan burial grounds and barrow graves, which many still stand along the country side today. Fairies were though to be the land of women, the became know as "The Mother's", or "The Mother's Blessing."

On Samhain, they were said to come out of their Fairy hills. The Celtic believe that the hills themselves were a tomb-womb of rebirth. And when the priestess brought the dead back to the earth, the Fae would travel from the hills.

It is not totally known where the land of the fairies may be. There has been much debate on this issue. Some say they live in hills, or sea. Some people have even reported accounts of out traveling, and all of a sudden they found themselves in the land of the fairies. It is also believed that there are different types of fairies, who all live in different places. Each type have their own look and personality. And the Fairy mounds are the entrances to these paradise. Weather this be located underground, water, hills, islands, woods, etc.

Angels were known to carry off the souls of the dead. Norwegian, Scottish, and Irish Christians believed that Fairies were the children/offspring, of the fallen angels. And like their ancestors, they carried off the souls of the dead. Those who died and midnight, or twilight, which is the hour of the Fairies. The hour of tween, nether one day or the next, would find themselves in the Fairyland. Neither life nor death, heaven nor hell. This was their Limbo. Fairies were considered just like the undead, for legend reflect the after world without punishment or reward, but only a way station in the karmic cycle.

"When the first baby laughed for the first time, the laugh broke into a thousand pieces, and they all went skipping about, and that was the beginning of fairies"

Author J.M.Barrie

Theories said to which the Fairies may have come from varies. Some believe they are the fallen angels, or their offspring; supernatural beings; old deities that have been neglected, lost their powers and dwelled away. Others say they are the spirits of the dead, or element's of nature.

The little people were though of as the old disposed tribes of the British isle's, that slowly faded away into unliveable place's. They than began to grow smaller and small as time passed by, and were forgotten about. Becoming nothing more than legend. "The Tuatha de Danann, People of the Goddess Dana, ruled Ireland before the Milesian invasion. They were driven underground where they became the Daoine Sidhe fairies."

The Fairies lands, said to be an invisible hill, thought of as an alternate or parallel universe, when there is no time, for it stands still. A place where sickness and death do not exist. Ruled by kings and queens in majestic cities. Humans who enter their world can never come back, once the doors are closed. And those that do make their way back, come back many years down the line. For as they travelled the land of the Fae, what only seemed like a few minutes, were actually years gone by.
