White and gray cats are often believed to be the bringers of good luck in the United States, Belgium, and Spain. But in Scotland and Ireland the most auspicious of all cats is the one that possess three colors. All homes with the three~colored cat are said to be protected against harm. Orange or tabby cats were once believed to bring good luck in abundance, but only to witches. Cats with double claws are also prized as lucky omens and charms.
